He'd gotten the text this morning: classes canceled. Adam supposed he should have been relieved but mostly he felt ill at ease. This was supposed to be his first day of classes; he'd already been through Orientation and class sign ups in the hectic rush from high school to college in the span of only a few weeks. The class cancellation left him keyed up, feeling like a stalled car.
He'd loaded up most of his classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, leaving him more time for work on other days, so he had nowhere to be. Somehow that just left Adam more anxious, sitting on his bed and staring at the backpack he'd stuffed with his textbooks and notebooks. His Darrow laptop sat open on his bed and Adam tried to find some distraction, but his mind constantly ticked with the sense that he had somewhere to be.
